"Sen. Glenn Grothman, R-West Bend, however, said he thinks Mason’s bill is an unnecessary solution to a nonexistent problem.

“Nobody wants to vote against clean air in schools, but I don’t think we have a problem; no problem was shown in committee,” Grothman said.

Furthermore, Grothman said it would be a waste of time for school districts to comply with the bill if it becomes a law."

Here's another example of typical knee-jerk conservatism mistaking gross for net -- you'd think that you could at least count on conservatives to be good with the money, but no. Smartly applied green-thinking generally always begins by eliminating waste and thus, while making a place, process, or business more environmentally friendly, saves everyone money. Sam Johnson at Johnson Wax saved his company millions of dollars by being green.

But out there on the 9/12 fringe, anything environmental always looks more expensive -- even when it's not.
